Making Learning More Accessible to Larc School Students
Assistive Technology (AT) includes devices and equipment that make learning more accessible to students with disabilities, and helps them perform tasks that otherwise would be difficult or impossible to accomplish. AT devices may be as high-tech as adaptive head switches facilitating communication, or as low-tech as a foam tube properly placed to help with positioning.
Our classrooms are equiped with White Boards and an array of equipment for general learning.
Additionally, we employ a wide variety of adaptive learning devices and teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of every student.
Our staff includes a full-time Assistive Technology Assistant who works collaboratively with teachers and therapists to find solutions to problems, and create alternatives designed to enhance communication, mobility, positioning, and access to classroom technology, as well as researching new technology that might be of help to Larc students.
